Are you interested in playing Rugby?

Our beginner’s course takes place on Thursdays at 19.30 on field 3 of the Radboud Sports Center (RSC). The field is behind the building. You can register online via the website from the RSC or just show up. You don’t need to bring any experience and nothing is compulsory. For the training, it is recommended to bring sport shoes and a bottle of water. If you have one, a mouthguard is also useful. After practice, you are invited to join us for a beer or two and come to town for some more!
Besides, you are also invited to join our practice on Tuesday’s from 20:00 until 22:00 on field 3.

We hope to see you soon!

The association
NSRV Obelix is a student rugby club in the beautiful city of Nijmegen, in the east of the Netherlands. Named after Asterix’ big friend, we have worn our green-yellow colours since 1970, which makes us one of the oldest sports clubs in Nijmegen. NSRV Obelix is an association that primarily offers the noble sport of rugby, but for the people who are interested, we have an active social life. We organize monthly drinks, go on a yearly tour abroad, participate in multiple tournaments and many other activities. Of course, there is also the traditional “third half” – singing rugby songs together with the opponent while enjoying a beer – is rarely skipped by NSRV Obelix. This makes NSRV Obelix a relatively small but tight-knit association, where you will make friends for life. You’re not just Obelix, you stay Obelix.

As Obelix we are proud to have three teams that represent us at different levels of play. The gentlemen’s first team plays in the 2nd division where we continue to steadily build our way through the ranks. The second gentlemen’s team, aka the Flagship, plays in the 4th division, where the new beginning players get prepared for the first team under the guidance of experienced veterans. The ladies play their rugby in the 2nd division, where they are a close and friendly group both on and off the field, and where everybody from all experience levels is very welcome.

We’re sorry we can’t give you the full website in English, but feel free to look around and contact us. Send an e-mail to or find us on Facebook or Instagram if you have questions about training, matches, tours, activities or to become a member. If you are interested in joining us – for an amazing Dutch rugby experience – please feel free to visit us during a training on Tuesdays and Thursdays or a match on Sundays.
